Post of Resource Person for Introduction of SMART Patrolling tool to the Wildlife and Forest Reserves of Sri Lanka
Spatial Monitoring and Reporting tool (SMART) has already been introduced to six Wildlife Protected Areas managed under the Department of Wildlife Conservation and it is expected to be extended to other major wildlife reserves and also to the forest reserves managed under the Forest Department, under the 2nd phase of the programme.
Director General, Department of Wildlife Conservation is calling for applications to engage a Resource Person to conduct the training programmes for the Wildlife Field officers, on field data collection and data management using the cybertracker and SMART software.
Applicants are expected to have the following qualifications and previous experiences;
Educational Qualifications – Applicant should have a BSc. (Zoology) degree and a post graduate degree in a relevant subject area.
Experience – Applicant should have at least 5 years of experience in training field officers engaged in Law Enforcement duties within Wildlife and / or Forest Reserves, with specific experience in training them in use of SMART Patrolling tool. A trainer who has international experience including Sri Lanka would be preferred.
Applications received will be evaluated and the selected applicant will be engaged for a period of one year. Selected applicant will be issued with a Terms of Reference (TOR), to which he should adhere to perform his duties, as a Resource Person.
On completion of the each training programme indicated in TOR, the relevant allowances for the engaged Resource Person will be paid at the rates recommended by Ecosystem Conservation and Management Project (ESCAMP), funded by World Bank, on the daily basis, for the period engaged in staff training and implementation of SMART Programme.
